Summer Lovers

I thought that summer was time for lolling around in the sand, tanning topless, and enjoying a hammock. Not for the SO. I haven’t been writing here at the SO because all my words have been used up writing features for Rochester Magazine and Mann’s Accent Magazine. In between I’ve had the pleasure of covering the LPGA and working towards two huge productions, one a global leadership conference for YPO and the other our son’s bar mitzvah — and that is not in order of importance - they are equally scary.
Oh, and I’m still the shlepper I am during the school year but now I shlep to camps of all kinds. My kids are having a great summer. I want to be them. Zach is spending the week playing astronaut at Challenger Camp and Eliza is at a camp which I call Club Med for kids, Creative Themes. She has also spent a week at a museum dressed in a costume like Laura Ingalls Wilder giving tours to the tourists (and I had to pay for that camp!). And next week they both take off for sleepaway camp where they get three weeks without Mommy telling them what to do - little things like “Take a shower!”
But there is a benefit to their departure, I get three weeks where I don’t have to manage them. Upon their departure my husband and I get to be “SUMMER LOVERS.” During their time away we remember that we actually like each other. We talk without interruption. We don’t have to yell at anyone (except each other). And we can walk around naked.
Oh but we can’t. We have a friend’s college-age daughter living in our basement. Oh well, she can take it. And if she can’t she’ll just stay in the basement. The point is I will have a summer even if I have to go topless and scare the neighbors to do it.

I thought I saw my husband in the house recently too, wait , no I think it was just the cat (maybe the dog, nope one of the kids, hmm where did my husband go???).

Can you send me a picture of Neal walking around the house naked? To me he seems so business like. Does he have a cord for his blackberry if he is walking around naked? We are YPO friends . Ted
